In 2023, Kazakhstan's textile industry demonstrated significant growth.
As of January 1, 2024, there were 1,885 enterprises in the light industry, 610 of which are engaged in textile manufacturing (small - 596, medium - 7, large - 7). All these enterprises are privately owned, accounting for 100% of the total.
At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Construction Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan is taking measures to further develop the light industry and increase the share of domestic producers:
- Adoption of the Light Industry Development Roadmap for 2022-2025 (Order No. 51 of the Ministry of Industry and Construction dated October 31, 2023).
- Allocation of 50 billion KZT in funding for light industry projects at an interest rate of no more than 3% per annum for end borrowers through JSC "FRP".
- Exemption of light industry goods from the national treatment regime (Resolution No. 99 of the Government of Kazakhstan dated February 19, 2024).
- Amendments to the Rules for Providing State Incentives for industry aimed at increasing labor productivity in industrial and innovative activities (Order No. 308 of the Ministry of Industry and Construction dated March 7, 2024), including reimbursement for the cost of acquiring technological equipment, among other measures.
